The Friends of the Crusher Lot is a community organization formed to promote the beautification, restoration, improvement and protection of the Crusher Lot (aka the West Woods or the Ottoson Woods) in Arlington Heights, Massachusetts. We aim to keep the woods clean, safe and natural. We invite active membership in the organization and seek to represent the community of neighbors and users who care about the Crusher Lot.
The next regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission will be on Tuesday, October 6, 7:00 PM via Zoom. Agenda.
Crusher Lot Clean Up This Saturday
We will be having a clean up day (afternoon) this Saturday, October 3 in the Ottoson Woods from 2-4pm. We have a rain date of October 10, but right now the forecast looks great. A lot of what we will be doing is picking up trash and broken glass, so gloves are advisable as well as a screwdriver or trowel to get glass that’s dug in. We’ll have some paper bags and trash bags to collect trash, but if you have extra paper bags to bring, those are ideal for collecting broken glass. We’ll meet in the clearing in the middle of the woods, where the small memorial is located.
As safety precautions, due to the pandemic, we have a few added requirements. Please register in advance, for contact tracing purposes, by sending your name, address, cell phone or email to info@friendsofthecrusher.org. We also need everyone to complete an Indemnification Waiver. If you are able to print and sign it at home and bring it with you, that would be great, but we will have blank copies if anyone isn’t able to do this. Throughout the event, everyone needs to wear a mask and maintain 6 feet of distance from other participants not in your household. Tools cannot be shared unless they are sanitized between uses. We will provide hand sanitizer and everyone needs to sanitize their hands before and after.
We look forward to seeing you there!
